Our visit to Vancouver began with a karaoke event at the Edgewater Casino. Our son, Adrian was one of 43 performers in the first annual provincial karaoke competition. It was a disaster from the minute we lined up to get our pre-ordered tickets. Organizational stupidity disguised as "technical difficulties" delayed admission to all of the online ticket purchasers(while those with tickets in hand entered), technical difficulties continued to plague the sound system during the first two hours after a one hour delay in starting. The first 10 performers were subjected to repeated static and stalls. Adrian, the 30th performer, was finally on stage at 11:20pm. Audience members who hadn't headed for home by that time were either drunk or really upset!!
His performance of Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" was amazing but he didn't make it into the top six for progression into the Nationals. Probably just as well if that organization is as bad as this one!
