Well, everything arrived and has been transferred into our condo by Mur of Mur's Moving in Salmon Arm. John has known him for years so it was great to catch up on his life and to watch how he, single handedly and efficiently, moved everything out of a huge semi trailer and into our small space! Bravo to Mur!!
Of course we have more than we remembered...and more than we need. After living out of two suitcases and three drawers in my sister's house...we are overwhelmed. It might take us months to adjust! The bits and pieces of furniture are all relics from our past lives and the past lives of parents.
Will we be able to part with them...and modernise? ...unlikely!
We spent Wednesday afternoon and Thursday unpacking hidden treasures, discovering gifts and listening to music that had been hiding for 2 1/2 years. Last night, exhausted and hungry, we ordered a pizza and drank a scotch toast to our new home. By 8:30pm we were in the new bed, ready to test the mattress, the pillows and our ability to fall asleep in less than 5 minutes!
The mattress passed the test...the pillows did not...collapsing under the weight of our heads and providing no neck support. As a result our sleep was sporadic, interrupted by visits to the loo and wanders through the semi-empty condo. At 7:00am we hopped into the car and drove to Bellingham with a mission of filling the gas tank (half the price of Langley) and finding new pillows. We will do another pillow testing tonight!
