We had a fun boat trip yesterday with Xavier, our 21 year old skipper at the helm. He picked us up at the beach in Mismaloya...on the sand!...a challenge for everyone, especially John and I. Several young men attempted to hold the boat in place while being buffeted by waves.
After we struggled aboard... the same young men pushed us off the beach and into the sea.
Xavier took us for a tour past the Casa and around Los Arcos, large rocks or islands in front of Casa del Mirador. There was a colorful display of fish below us that rose to the surface for small bits of bread. Los Arcos has many caves that are explored by kayakers. Our boat was too big to pass safely through.
After our tour of Los Arcos we sailed to Las Animas for lunch. Our disembarkation on the beach was assisted by a strong older Mexican who carried each of us off the boat!!! Whew! Lunch was a welcome break from the choppy water...and a margarita tasted delicious! Sooz and I decided to dunk ourselves after lunch... so...for the first time... I had a dip in warm Mexican waters! The undertow ...which has deterred me in the past... was very strong so we didn't venture too far.
I am not sure which of the embarkations and disembarkations was more challenging...but getting back onboard at Las Animas was as difficult as our final exit in Mismaloya. Perhaps these adventures are intended for younger bodies than ours!
