Returning to Amorgos

We are returning to Amorgos, our island in the Aegean.

Breathing with the clouds in Chora.

Waking to the brays of Kitsa every morning.

Proceeding with confidence

When I did this painting six years ago, I didn't know the journey
that would face Tara, my youngest sister.
In the painting she is forging ahead, full of life,
proudly exhibiting her womanhood.
Last year she lost both breasts to cancer.
Today she is a survivor, proceeding with confidence!

Roots & Blues

I met and talked with a lot of people from everywhere
during my two days of painting at the Roots & Blues Festival.

From my spot, in the welcome shade of a tree,
I heard music from Cuba, USA, Canada, Africa and Australia.

The sun was shining and festival goers of all ages were smiling.
I was interested in the fact that most viewers of my painting
thought that the guitarist was a female!

The day before the Festival

March fourth Marching Band paraded through town to the Ross Street Stage

They even paraded through Askew's Store, on stilts, to the delight of employees and customers!

It was like having the entire cast of "Cabaret" entertain us!

They stayed around to provide visual distractions during the afternoon.

Wil Campa & La Gran Union, from Cuba,  had everyone dancing last night and again today!

Prelude to Roots & Blues

Old Man's Beard and The Salmon Armenians arrived
onboard a houseboat to entertain us at the wharf.

People gathered along the boardwalk
to hear the first annual "Live on the Lake" concert
as a prelude to this weekend's Roots & Blues Festival.
