Disappointed

On the 18th day after bathroom renovations started... we were told this morning that the work would not be finished before we leave for Greece. When does a simple bathroom renovation take more than 18 days?! To say that I am unhappy would be an understatement! We have a functioning toilet but we still cannot enjoy a shower...the ceiling fan is not installed... the baseboards, lighting fixture, shower doors and towel rack are not in place...the final coat of paint is still in the can. We still have to go to my sister's home for showers until we leave on September 4th. When the contractor said that he would be back next Tuesday I told him not to bother. We don't need the distraction of workers while we are preparing to leave!...very disappointed!

Bathroom and Arts Festival

Work on the bathroom has continued at the rate of 2-3 hours per day for five days. We are very hopeful that the job will finish by the end of next week...but...we are not holding our collective breaths!

Today my sister and I enjoyed a wander through the 25th Annual Langley City Arts Festival. Artists, jewelers and craftspeople were lined up in stalls along a closed portion of Fraser Highway. Live performances filled the air with music from three different stages. There was cotton candy and ice cream, a wine & beer area, food trucks and street performers. Several tents contained displays by local painters...an opportunity to exhibit their recent artwork.

Lunch at Viva Mexico was delicious!

Chaos!

And so...the chaos begins! Toilet and sink being disconnected at this moment...abatement due to the possibility of asbestos happening tomorrow...then at least two weeks of “no access to bathroom”. As a result we will be staying at my sister’s off and on until the end of the month!

Between traveling back and forth...I have several new paintings to touch up and prepare for transport to Mexico. They will be exhibited at the end of this year in a PV gallery.

Oops and Critter Race

We were invited to my sister's for lunch last Saturday. It was a fun gathering with good food and new games to play. John was given a Director's chair for his seat at the table and...just as the food was laid out..the worn fabric on the chair decided that it could not support his weight!

He was laughing so hard that it was impossible to help him up!

Apparently there was already a small tear in the fabric before he sat down.
Needless to say...his body is in painful recovery!

The "Critter Race" was played with oversized dice!
