The New Year

We went to a great party last night. The hostess had spent days preparing a feast of gourmet delights for about 60-70 guests. We enjoyed prawns, spanakopita, sausage rolls, meatballs, coconut chicken, bacon- wrapped water chestnuts, cheeses, stuffed mushrooms...and...a large variety of handmade chocolates!!!

Around 10:30pm we left the party in order to have about one hour at home to recover before watching the annual display of fireworks around the bay. Magical sky lanterns filled the air after the fireworks, drifting out to sea.

Tonight, for New Year's dinner, we were the only gringos at Celia's Posole House. We were served delicious bowls of posole soup with generous chunks of pork, hominy, sliced radishes, chopped onions and shredded cabbage. Dessert was tasty cool dishes of caramelized flan! Yummhh!!!

Now it's time to get back on track with salads, soups and simple foods...yet another resolution. Happy New Year everyone!!
