Volunteer time

Two afternoons of each week I volunteer my time at Penny Pincher Thrift store which is a part of Langley Hospital Auxiliary. Everyone in the auxiliary is a volunteer and all proceeds go go assist with the hospital's needs. My job is to sort through donated clothing. The bags of clothing are sorted into those that are suitable to sell in the store, others are sold by the pound to Can Am and some other articles which are 100% cotton (but soiled) are also sold by the bag or pound.

These bins are usually overflowing with large bags of donated clothing.
Local merchants often donate unsold items...a great (brand new) buy for our patrons!

The clothing is sorted, hung and tagged in the back before being placed in the store.

On the clothing side of Penny Pincher we have a selection of everything from clothing, hats, underwear, swimwear, shoes, gloves, ties for men, women and children.

Once a week Can Am sends a truck to take away this room full of discarded clothing
that we have identified as soiled, torn or just plain worn out.

My volunteer time is spent looking through other people's castoffs...
...finding treasures for others who shop in this lovely Langley City store.
