Theo's mother arrived a few days ago. She is recently widowed and Theo is very happy to share time with her on the island, away from the memories that are held within the walls of her home.
Zoi, his mother, has been kept busy with sewing and cooking chores. Yesterday she made a delicious pot of lentil soup for lunch. Today there is an island "rooster" in the pot!! Smells delicious...details to follow after we have joined them for another tasty meal.
During a break at noon we discovered a trio of women frantically beating the dust out of a brilliant fuchsia coloured flokati rug that was left behind by the previous tenant.
Maria, Suvi and Kristina were trying to clean the rug before following Maria's suggestion of washing it in the sea and rinsing it in water from the hose!! It was uncertain as to who would have the strength to haul the thing out of the sea or whether they would just leave it to sink, forming a lovely bed for crabs and octopus!!
