It was wonderful to be hosted by Vassilikis & Andronikos and their menagerie in Athens.
The duck is 12 years old.
The cat is 14 years old...
...and the bird, maybe a parrot, flew into the kitchen two weeks ago!!
On the night of our arrival we walked over for the opening of a photo exhibition that was housed in a small gallery that is in a building with several studio spaces. We were pleased to be given a tour of the studios...painter, potters, jewellery maker. From there we walked over to "The Ugly Duck" taverna for a dinner of traditional dishes. At the end of our meal and several carafes of wine, the owners sent over another kilo of wine and plates of dessert as a gift. This generosity happens all the time in Greece!! It was 1:30am before our heads were safely deposited on pillows!!
We shared breakfast on the patio before taking a taxi
to Syntagma Metro Station and on to the next leg of our adventures.
